Yes, you may purchase a card for a small annual fee.

Your password is your last name with the first letter capitalized. You can change your password by logging into your account.

You can reset your password at valnet.org by clicking “Forgot your password?” Your account must have an active email address. You can also call the Library to talk with Library staff.

Borrowing Materials

There is a limit of 50 books per card from all Valnet Libraries. You may borrow 2 Lucky Day books at a time. Learn more at Using Your Card.

At the Downtown Library your items on hold can be picked up from the Hold Shelf just behind the Service Desk. They are shelved alphabetically by the first 3 letters of your last and first name. At the Heights Branch you can ask Library staff for your items. You have 7 days to pick-up your item(s). All items on hold will need to be checked out.

How you are contacted depends on your account set-up. We can email, text or call you.

You can renew by logging into your library account. If the items are due that day or are overdue you will need to call the Library. There may be items not eligible for renewal.

Yes, you can return items borrowed to any Valnet library. We have couriers who deliver items between Valnet libraries 5 days a week.

Interlibrary loan is a service that enables patrons of one library to borrow books that are held by another library outside of the Valnet Consortium. If there is an item that you want that is not in the collection, we may be able to borrow it using ILL.

Library Fees

It’s free! Materials, programs and services are free except for printing, copying and faxing. We do make headphones available for sale if you need a pair while using a computer or mobile device at the library.

20 cents per page for black and white and $1.00 per page for color.

Yes, instructions for scanning are available here. There is no cost to scan.

Yes, we have a fax machine. You can send and receive faxes at 509-751-1460. Cost is $1.00 per page; no cost for fax cover sheet.

Yes. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis if not reserved. If you have questions about availability, please ask Library staff.

Yes, we accept book donations. Please bring no more than 2 medium sized boxes a week. We do not accept textbooks or encyclopedias. We are not able to return the containers in which the items are donated.
