This was an experiment to see if I am finally old and boring enough to read Trollope the way the Barbara Pym heroines do.
So far -- well, let's say that even those this was the first book, it is definitely not the most readable for heartbreak. It is probably hard to find things set in Ireland at the time which are not. My next Trollope is to be his most popular ones.
Spoiler alert -- all the good people turn out to be right. A sad story of poverty in Ireland brought about by greed and despair.
